No matter which way you look at it a debt is a debt no matter where it comes from. We will now look at ten tips to help you eliminate credit card debt.

First you need to cut out the nonessential items in our life. This means no extra clothes, jewelry or toys. This is a good thing to maintain all of the time but it should definitely last until you pay off your credit card debt. The next step is STOP using those credit cards. No matter how bad you want to just say NO. Another step is to cancel all travel plans and quit going out on the town for expensive meals. There is plenty of free stuff to do. This will definitely help eliminate credit card debt. Another step in the removal of credit card debt is to lower your phone expenses. Cut down on long distance calls and get rid

of those costly cell phones.

Another step is by trying to spend less on groceries. Instead of buying all the name brand foods look for discounted or generic brands. These high class foods will still be there when you get back on track. You should always shop with a list and stick with it. You can also create a weekly menu to help out. Until you get your credit card debt back down you should lessen your trips to a restaurant or at least go to a cheaper one.

Try to conserve with everything you do. Find other ways to bring in cash. This can range from working overtime to taking on a second job temporarily. It will also help if you keep yourself busy. The busier you are the less opportunity you have to spend your money. And the last tip to eliminating credit card debt is to pay off the one with the highest interest rate first. In the end it will take time but it will be worth it when you finally eliminate your credit card debt.

One thing my wife and I have done is to have a change jar. Every night we empty all of our change into that jar and at the end of the month take it to the bank, cash it in and send it directly to one of our credit cards. It might not sound like a lot but an extra $50 towards credit card debt is nice plus you never really miss the money each month.
