Materials you will need:
• Sewing machine - If you don’t have one you can do it by hand stitching.
• Pillow - You can use an old pillow at home or purchase one from your local craft store.
• Thread
• Scissors (sharp for best results)
• Fabric (good choices are Cotton, Linen, Brocade, Silk, (we recommend that you hand sew light weight silk) Satin & Canvas.
Here are 5 easy steps on creating custom pillows:
1. Measure the pillow; put an additional one inch to each piece to have ½ inch seam allowance for each edge of the fabric. Cut 2 pieces.
2. Turn the pieces inside out and stitch 3 of the 4 edges together
3. Place a zipper or buttons to the inside seam and sew. (Or to make a pillow that does not have a zipper or buttons. Sew the raw edge halfway, pull the fabric so the right side is now showing and slip the pillow stuffing inside. To complete this type of pillow, fold the seam inward and hand stitch from the backside of the pillow).
4. Keep the zipper or buttons open and turn the pillow inside out and stuff the pillow in.
5. For added details glue some flowers, beads and hand sew other decorations on your custom pillow. Embroidery is a nice touch if you are creating a gift or if you would like some inspiring message placed on your pillow.
