Timing Your Garden “The Best Time to Plant Your Garden”

Choosing the best season or time to plant your garden really depends on the type and variety of your plant seedlings. Novice gardeners are always in the dilemma in these matters because it is difficult to determine the precise time when would be the best time to plant your garden. Gardeners however have established some rule of thumb when it comes to timing their gardening.

Generally, almost every variety of shrubs and trees can be planted as long as the soil can be worked on. Trees and shrubs have relatively sturdy seedlings so time really doesn’t matter when planting those. Of course, when winter is severe, postpone your planting until spring comes. Almost all seedlings will not survive during a harsh winter season. To be sure however, always consult your local horticulturist and get useful advice.

Perennial plants will not survive even during a mildest winter season. Your best bet in planting perennials is during early spring or fall. During these times, the plant can develop its roots so that it can survive the heat of summer or cold weather during winter.

Turf grasses and vegetables are more complicated to plant. Some species need warm weather to take root while others can live in cold weather conditions. To really be sure about the timing of your garden planting, always consult a planting calendar. This can be bought from any book stores. It would also help if you can consult a nursery or a garden expert. Their experiences in gardening can be a source of rich information.

It totally depends where you live. If you have sun all year round than anytime is a good time to plant your garden.
