Tips for Buying Fences
Fences are commonly used for a sense of privacy. Cedar post-slat fences or actual 'privacy fences' constructed with vinyl ribbon threaded through chain link aluminum fence exemplify this. But, fences, railings, and gateways surrounding a yard, balcony, or patio are inaccessible luxuries for most Americans but can easily add a sense of stature to a home and very likely, increase its value.
Fences can be either wood or metal. The former tends to appear more rustic and can be assembled, or arranged in a variety of fashions: straight rail, American post and rail, and snake rail, which involves no posts but beams laid out in a winding 's' formation.
A metal fence is constructed of either aluminum or steel, painted or unpainted. Aluminum is lighter and generally cheaper but a steel product tends to be more fanciful and in between ordinary vertical bars, scrolled pikes can fill the gaps between posts. A metal construction is better for balconies and patios but ornate wood designs can be found as well.
