The small 4-cup coffee pots take up less counter space but are not quite big enough when having over family and friends. Do yourself a favor and buy one regular 10-12 cup coffee pot and ditch the idea that smaller is better. A small microwave also takes up far less counter space but cannot accommodate full size food items. Buy one full size microwave that can handle from small to large.
One more item to add as a hot topic for discussion is a toaster. Choose a toaster that accommodates all types of bread from bagels to pancakes. There are grates inside that adjust to the bread when popped in the toaster for exact browning results.
